W7 Wednesday Learning Blog

Good morning Reception Class ๐Ÿ˜Ž Welcome to Week 7 Virtual School!

There are 3 different learning areas for you to work on every day.
Try to follow the instructions carefully and complete the tasks according to your learning pace!

Please be prepared to share some of your work during the end of the day Zoom meeting at 11:30 am with your teachers. Don't forget to upload at least one task on Tapestry for teachers to see how hard you've been working daily! Keep up the good work ๐Ÿ˜Š

1) Literacy (Writing)
Learning Objectives (LO): Writing ELG - Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They also write some irregular common words. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically plausible.

Let's practice writing simple words and sentences!

Have a look at the picture below:

What can you see at school?

What can you see in the picture? What do you see? What is happening?

Attempt to sound out and write down some things (words) you see in the picture.
If you can, start making and writing your sentences with "I can see..."

Don't forget Big letter (Capital letter), Finger Spacing, and Kung Fu Punch (Full Stop) at the end of each sentence!

2) Mathematics (SSM)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children use everyday language to talk about size, weight, capacity, position, distance, time and money to compare quantities and objects and to solve problems. They recognize, create and describe patterns. They explore characteristics of everyday objects and shapes and use mathematical language to describe them.

There are two different types of Maths activities. Please feel free to move from one star challenge to another depending on your mastery remembering what works best for you.
Don't forget that learning is fun ๐Ÿ˜‰

Please download and work on Numbots daily if possible.

⭐ - 1 Star Challenge:

Today we will sort 2D and 3D shapes! We now know that 2D shapes are flat while 3D shapes are solid. Can you collect some 2D and 3D shapes at home?

Have a look at the video of how your teachers sorted 2D and 3D shapes! Can you also practice what shape faces you can see from 3D shapes you found? Have fun! ๐Ÿ˜€

Coloring 2D and 3D Shapes

⭐⭐ - 2 Star Challenge:

We will look at parts of a 3D shape today. Let's learn and practice to use mathematical words such as 'vertices, edge, and face.' Have a look at the video of how Ms. MJ made some of 3D shapes.

Can you also make 3D shapes? How many faces, edges, and vertices can you see in each shape?

3) Arts and Crafts (Moving and Handling)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children show good control and coordination in large and small movements. They move confidently in a range of ways, safely negotiating space. They handle equipment and tools effectively, including pencils for writing.

Last Sunday was Mother's day! We would like to take this opportunity for you to take some time to say thank you to your parents ๐Ÿ˜Š

What message would you like to write on your Mother's day card? Why?
