W5 Wednesday Learning Blog

Good morning Reception Class ๐Ÿ˜Ž Welcome to Week 5 Virtual School!

There are 3 different learning areas for you to work on every day.
Try to follow the instructions carefully and complete the tasks according to your learning pace!

Please be prepared to share some of your work during the end of the day Zoom meeting at 11:30 am with your teachers. Don't forget to upload at least one task on Tapestry for teachers to see how hard you've been working daily! Keep up the good work ๐Ÿ˜Š

1) Literacy (Writing)
Learning Objectives (LO): Writing ELG - Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They also write some irregular common words. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically plausible.

Let's practice writing simple words and sentences!

Have a look at the picture below:

What can you see in the pirate scene?

What can you see in the picture? What do you see? What is happening?

Attempt to sound out and write down some things (words) you see in the picture.
If you can, start making and writing your sentences with "I can see..."

Don't forget Big letter (Capital letter), Finger Spacing, and Kung Fu Punch (Full Stop) at the end of each sentence!

2) Mathematics (SSM)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children use everyday language to talk about size, weight, capacity, position, distance, time and money to compare quantities and objects and to solve problems. They recognize, create and describe patterns. They explore characteristics of everyday objects and shapes and use mathematical language to describe them.

There are two different types of Maths activities. Please feel free to move from one star challenge to another depending on your mastery remembering what works best for you.
Don't forget that learning is fun ๐Ÿ˜‰

Please download and work on Numbots daily if possible.

⭐ - 1 Star Challenge:

You will be making your own 2D shapes dice today.

You will need: paper, scissors, and a box (you can also make it up into a cube dice shape using paper)

1) Draw and cut out six different 2D shapes of your choice.
2) Stick each shape to each face of the box.
3) Roll and play shape games!

Feel free to make your own game. Can you do guessing game of what 2D shapes will come out after you roll your shape dice? Can you name and describe the shapes?

You will use this shape dice tomorrow as well to play another new game ๐Ÿ˜€

⭐⭐ - 2 Star Challenge:

We will practice how to sort 2D shapes by their properties. What are sides?
Have a look at the video and try to sort 2D shapes you have at home.

Can you count how many sides are in each shape with Ms. MJ?

3) Arts and Crafts (Moving and Handling)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children show good control and coordination in large and small movements. They move confidently in a range of ways, safely negotiating space. They handle equipment and tools effectively, including pencils for writing.

Today you will be drawing and painting using cotton buds and aluminum foil.
Have a look at the video how Ms. Anji drew a boat using these tools.

Try to explore and paint anything you would like ๐Ÿ˜Š
You can paint one of the transporatations we have discussed as well. Have fun!
