W3 Wednesday Learning Blog

Good morning Reception Class ๐Ÿ˜Ž Welcome to Week 3 Virtual School!

There are 3 different learning areas for you to work on every day.
Try to follow the instructions carefully and complete the tasks according to your learning pace!

Please be prepared to share some of your work during the end of the day Zoom meeting at 11:30 am with your teachers. Don't forget to upload at least one task on Tapestry for teachers to see how hard you've been working daily! Keep up the good work ๐Ÿ˜Š

1) Literacy (Writing)
Learning Objectives (LO): Writing ELG - Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They also write some irregular common words. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically plausible.

Let's practice writing simple words and sentences!

Have a look at the picture below:
What can you see at the party?

What can you see in the picture? What do you see? What is happening?

Attempt to sound out and write down some things (words) you see in the picture.
If you can, start making and writing your sentences with "I can see..."

Don't forget Big letter (Capital letter), Finger Spacing, and Kung Fu Punch (Full Stop) at the end of each sentence!

2) Mathematics (SSM)
Learning Objectives (LO):
ELChildren use everyday language to talk about size, weight, capacity, position, distance, time anmoney to compare quantities and objects and to solve problems
They recognize, create and describpatterns. They explore characteristics of everyday  objects and shapes
and use mathematical language to describe them.

There are two different types of Maths activities. Please feel free to move from one star challenge to another depending on your mastery remembering what works best for you.
Don't forget that learning is fun ๐Ÿ˜‰

Please download and work on Numbots daily if possible - your child will have an individual login to access this.

⭐ - 1 Star Challenge:

We have learned that there are 60 seconds in one minute
What do you think you can do in one minute?

Using a minute timer (or set the timer using electronic devices) to see what you can do in one minute!
How many actions can you do in one minute?

For example, how many times can you write the first letter in your name?
Can you write numbers and see what number you can get to in a minute?

How many bricks can you include in a model built during the minute?
How many words beginning with 's' can you say in a minute?
How many times can you touch head, shoulders, knees then toes?

Please vary the activity according to your child's counting skills but for most choose actions which can be repeated between 20 and 50 times!
