W2 Tuesday Learning Blog

Good morning Reception Class ๐Ÿ˜Ž Welcome to Week 2 Virtual School!

There are 3 different learning areas for you to work on every day.
Try to follow the instructions carefully and complete the tasks according to your learning pace!

Please be prepared to share some of your work during the end of the day Zoom meeting at 11:30 am with your teachers. Don't forget to upload at least one task on Tapestry for teachers to see how hard you've been working daily! Keep up the good work ๐Ÿ˜Š

1) Phonics Book (Literacy)

Learning Objectives (LO):
Reading ELG - Children read and understand simple sentences. They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. They also read some common irregular words. They demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read.
Writing ELG - Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They also write some irregular common words. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically plausible.

Tuesday is our day to work on Phonics Book!
Please take the time to complete one page per week and follow your own child's pace of learning.
Keep practicing reading and writing ๐Ÿ™‚

2) Mathematics (Numbers)

Learning Objectives (LO): Add 1,2 or 3 to any number to 20 by counting on.
40-60+ Counts objects to 10, and beginning to count beyond 10. Counts actions or objects which cannot be moved.
ELG - Children count reliably with numbers from one to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer.

⭐ - 1 Star Challenge:

What's the next number?

Ask your child to write down numbers from 1-20 to make their own number cards and practice number formation. After making their own cards, play the game.

1) Shuffle a set of 1-20 cards.
2) Show one number.
3) Ask your child to say the next number as fast as they can, then carry on counting until you say stop.
4) Repeat with other cards.

Your child can play this game with his/her siblings too!

Number Cards 1-20

⭐⭐ - 2 Star Challenge:

Let's practice adding 1,2, or 3 to any number to 20 by counting on!
Have a look at how Ms. MJ added some bus counters and follow writing addition number sentences together! Repeat by choosing different numbers on your own.

Can I see your addition number sentences? How many counters were you able to add together?

3) Helicopter Stories (Speaking)

Learning Objectives (LO):
ELG - Children express themselves effectively, showing awareness of listeners' needs. They use past, present and future forms accurately when talking about events that have happened or are to happen in the future. They develop their own narratives and explanations by connecting ideas or events.

Create a story with your family! You can choose to create your own story or each family member participates by adding one word or sentence at a time. What kind of story will you or your family create? Work together to either create a drawing for the story or reenact the story out!

Have a look how we used to have 'Helicopter Stories' session at school! Enjoy ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘‡
