W2 Monday Learning Blog

Good morning Reception Class πŸ˜Ž Welcome to Week 2 Virtual School!

There are 3 different learning areas for you to work on every day.
Try to follow the instructions carefully and complete the tasks according to your learning pace!

Please be prepared to share some of your work during the end of the day Zoom meeting at 11:30 am with your teachers. Don't forget to upload at least one task on Tapestry for teachers to see how hard you've been working daily! Keep up the good work πŸ˜Š

1) Home Readers (Reading)

Learning Objectives (LO):

40-60+ Uses vocabulary and forms of speech that are increasingly influenced by their experiences of books. Enjoys an increasing range of books. Knows that information can be retrieved from books and computers.
ELG - Children read and understand simple sentences. They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. They also read some common irregular words. They demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read.

Children are expected to read daily if possible but we will follow our usual homework schedule of Home Readers (Mondays/Wednesdays). Children to read to their parents/guardians, stuffed animals or pets. Please visit Oxford Owl for free eBooks that link to your child's book band. You can create a free account.

2) Mathematics (Numbers)

Learning Objectives (LO): Add 1,2 or 3 to any number to 20 by counting on.

40-60+ Counts objects to 10, and beginning to count beyond 10. Counts actions or objects which cannot be moved.
ELG - Children count reliably with numbers from one to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer.

There are two different types of Maths activities. Please feel free to move from one star challenge to another depending on your mastery remembering what works best for you.
Don't forget that learning is fun πŸ˜‰

⭐ - 1 Star Challenge:c

We are going to review counting numbers using any of the counting songs below:

Have you practiced counting enough?

Your challenge is to choose your favorite song and make up a pattern to count up your moves/steps! Let's see how far you can count your movements.
We look forward to seeing your groovy moves! πŸ˜‰

⭐⭐ - 2 Star Challenge:

Now, we would like you to make your own parking lot! How many parking lots do you want to make? Can you number them accordingly?

Here are some examples below:

Make Number Learning Fun with a Car Numbers Game! But I wanted to make it so that he could also play independently as well as with my interaction.
