W10 Wednesday Learning Blog

Good morning Reception Class πŸ˜Ž Welcome to Week 10 Virtual School!

There are 3 different learning areas for you to work on every day.
Try to follow the instructions carefully and complete the tasks according to your learning pace!

Please be prepared to share some of your work during the end of the day Zoom meeting at 11:30 am with your teachers. Don't forget to upload at least one task on Tapestry for teachers to see how hard you've been working daily! Keep up the good work πŸ˜Š

1) Literacy (Writing)
Learning Objectives (LO): Writing ELG - Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They also write some irregular common words. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically plausible.

Let's practice writing simple words and sentences!

Have a look at the picture below:

What can you see at the swimming pool?

What can you see in the picture? What do you see? What is happening?

Attempt to sound out and write down some things (words) you see in the picture.
If you can, start making and writing your sentences with "I can see..."

Don't forget Big letter (Capital letter), Finger Spacing, and Kung Fu Punch (Full Stop) at the end of each sentence!

2) Mathematics (SSM)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children use everyday language to talk about size, weight, capacity, position, distance, time and money to compare quantities and objects and to solve problems. They recognize, create and describe patterns. They explore characteristics of everyday objects and shapes and use mathematical language to describe them.

There are two different types of Maths activities. Please feel free to move from one star challenge to another depending on your mastery remembering what works best for you.
Don't forget that learning is fun πŸ˜‰

Please download and work on Numbots daily if possible.

⭐ - 1 Star Challenge:

Which item is cheaper and more expensive? Let's do a role play with your parents or siblings at home to practice paying for different items at the shop. You can be the customer or a shopkeeper!

Make sure you pay the right amount of money for what you are buying 😊

⭐⭐ - 2 Star Challenge:

Please review Brunei coins and dollars first and let us practice how to read the price list in order for us to pay correctly! Have a look at the price list in the video and try to find dollars and cents together to pay 😊

This is the sample price list. Can you practice paying for different chicken meals? πŸ˜Š

Please modify pence to Brunei cents to complete the activity below:
How much money is my piggy bank?

3) Arts & Crafts (Moving and Handling)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children show good control and coordination in large and small movements. They move confidently in a range of ways, safely negotiating space. They handle equipment and tools effectively, including pencils for writing.

We have spent some time exploring and looking at different coins and dollars. Now, it is time for you to design and make your own coins and dollars of your choice!

What would you like to draw in your own money? How much does it cost? Have fun 😊
