W10 Tuesday Learning Blog

Good morning Reception Class ๐Ÿ˜Ž Welcome to Week 10 Virtual School!

There are 3 different learning areas for you to work on every day.
Try to follow the instructions carefully and complete the tasks according to your learning pace!

Please be prepared to share some of your work during the end of the day Zoom meeting at 11:30 am with your teachers. Don't forget to upload at least one task on Tapestry for teachers to see how hard you've been working daily! Keep up the good work ๐Ÿ˜Š

1) Phonics Book (Literacy)
Learning Objectives (LO): Reading ELG - Children read and understand simple sentences. They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. They also read some common irregular words. They demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read.
Writing ELG - Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They also write some irregular common words. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically plausible.

Tuesday is our day to work on Phonics Book!
Please take the time to complete one page per week and follow your own child's pace of learning.
Keep practicing reading and writing ๐Ÿ™‚

Find and Write the 'fl' Words

2) Mathematics (SSM)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children use everyday language to talk about size, weight, capacity, position, distance, time and money to compare quantities and objects and to solve problems. They recognize, create and describe patterns. They explore characteristics of everyday objects and shapes and use mathematical language to describe them.

There are two different types of Maths activities. Please feel free to move from one star challenge to another depending on your mastery remembering what works best for you.
Don't forget that learning is fun ๐Ÿ˜‰

Please download and work on Numbots daily if possible.

⭐ - 1 Star Challenge:

Let's review Brunei coins and see which coin costs less and more. Do you notice the color of 1 cent is different from the rest? Have a look at the video to review the value of Brunei coins!

What do you think you can buy more things with coins or bills?
We use coins to buy cheaper things like a piece of candy while we use bills to buy more expensive things such as cheese and fruits.

⭐⭐ - 2 Star Challenge:

Let's practice comparing the value of cents today. You can use real coins or paper coins you have sketched yesterday! Shall we find out who has more money?

Choose the price of cents from 1-20 to compare. Can you find different ways to make the value of cents? Who has more money? The bigger number of cents mean you have more value of money.

What do you think you can buy with 10 cents in Brunei?
Have a look at the video of how your teachers compare the price of Brunei cents.

Please modify pence to Brunei cents to complete the activity below:
How much do the ice creams cost?

3) Topic (Our Homes)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children know about similarities and differences in relation to places, objects, materials and living things. They talk about the features of their own immediate environment and how environments might vary from one another. They make observations of animals and plants and explain why some things occur, and talk about changes.

You are going to use Google Earth map program again to look around your neighborhood! We would like you to find your favorite grocery shop near your house where you often visit to buy groceries ๐Ÿ˜Š

Can you find a way or draw a map of how to get to the grocery shop from your house? How long does it usually take to get there? What do you usually get from the shop?

Google Earth

Have a look at how your teachers found a way to get to Supasave from ISB Seria. Can you also draw a route from your house to a grocery shop? Have fun looking at the map!
