Good morning Reception Class ๐Ÿ˜Ž Welcome to Week 10 Virtual School!

There are 3 different learning areas for you to work on every day.
Try to follow the instructions carefully and complete the tasks according to your learning pace!

Please be prepared to share some of your work during the end of the day Zoom meeting at 11:30 am with your teachers. Don't forget to upload at least one task on Tapestry for teachers to see how hard you've been working daily! Keep up the good work ๐Ÿ˜Š

1) Home Readers (Reading)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children read and understand simple sentences. They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. They also read some common irregular words. They demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read.

Children are expected to read daily if possible but we will follow our usual homework schedule of Home Readers (Mondays/Wednesdays). Children to read to their parents/guardians, stuffed animals or pets. Please visit Oxford Owl for free eBooks that link to your child's book band. You can create a free account.

They recognize, create and describe patterns. They explore characteristics of everyday objects and shapes and use mathematical language to describe them.

There are two different types of Maths activities. Please feel free to move from one star challenge to another depending on your mastery remembering what works best for you.
Don't forget that learning is fun ๐Ÿ˜‰

Please download and work on Numbots daily if possible.

⭐ - 1 Star Challenge:

We will be taking the time to learn and recognize Brunei coins and dollars this week!
You must have seen your parents or grandparents use dollars and coins when they spend money at the restaurant and grocery shops. Let's spend some time closely looking at Brunei coins today.

Can you collect and have a look at some coins and dollars?

Remember these coins and dollars are used only in Brunei. When you go to another country, you need to use money that is used in the specific country which will look quite different from these.

When you look closely, you will see some numbers on coins and dollars. What do you think these mean? What else do you see?

⭐⭐ - 2 Star Challenge:

As you may have noticed, there are five types of cents (English) sen (Malay) in Brunei coins. There are 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 cents in Brunei coins.

Let's play a coin game today. You will need some 1, 5, 10 cents to play this game.
Notice that there are only 1, 5, 10 cents not 3, 7, or 11 cents.
How shall we make these cents using 1, 5, 10 cents we have in Brunei?

Have a look at the video to get an idea of how to play this game:

Spend some time using the coins and find different combinations! ๐Ÿ˜Š
It can be a bit challenging so take your time and choose numbers below 15. Have fun!

3) Finger Gym (Moving and Handling)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children show good control and coordination in large and small movements. They move confidently in a range of ways, safely negotiating space. They handle equipment and tools effectively, including pencils for writing.

For finger gym activity today, you will spend some time either drawing or scratching Brunei coins you have at home. What do you notice about the coin? Draw out colour, number, decoration, shape etc. Do you know the name of this coin?

Have a look at the video and follow through.

You will need: Different real coins; paper; sketching pencils; crayons; magnifying glasses

Please keep these coins because we will using them throughout this week ๐Ÿ˜Š Have fun!
