W8 Wednesday Learning Blog

Good morning Reception Class πŸ˜Ž Welcome to Week 8 Virtual School!

There are 3 different learning areas for you to work on every day.
Try to follow the instructions carefully and complete the tasks according to your learning pace!

Please be prepared to share some of your work during the end of the day Zoom meeting at 11:30 am with your teachers. Don't forget to upload at least one task on Tapestry for teachers to see how hard you've been working daily! Keep up the good work πŸ˜Š

1) Literacy (Writing)
Learning Objectives (LO): Writing ELG - Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They also write some irregular common words. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically plausible.

Let's practice writing simple words and sentences!

Have a look at the picture below:

What can you see at the park?

What can you see in the picture? What do you see? What is happening?

Attempt to sound out and write down some things (words) you see in the picture.
If you can, start making and writing your sentences with "I can see..."

Don't forget Big letter (Capital letter), Finger Spacing, and Kung Fu Punch (Full Stop) at the end of each sentence!

2) Mathematics (SSM)
Learning Objectives (LO): Children count reliably with numbers from one to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.

There are two different types of Maths activities. Please feel free to move from one star challenge to another depending on your mastery remembering what works best for you.
Don't forget that learning is fun πŸ˜‰

Please download and work on Numbots daily if possible - your child will have an individual login to access this.

⭐ - 1 Star Challenge:

We will keep practicing finding out odd and even numbers by pairing objects available at home! Have a look at how Ms. Kris was able to find some friends for even numbers while odd numbers always had one left out.

Take some time to count and sort out even and odd numbers πŸ˜ƒ

Try to cut out the number shape cards and sort them out!

⭐⭐ - 2 Star Challenge:

Since you have been practicing odd and even numbers for a while, you must have noticed a pattern!

Even numbers have a mate. If a number ends in a 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 it is an even number.
Odd numbers have one out of line. If a number ends in a 1,3,5,7 or 9 it is an odd number.

Keep this in mind and try to pair up the food items for dinner πŸ˜ƒ

3) Topic (Our Homes)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children use what they have learnt about media and materials in original ways, thinking about uses and purposes. They represent their own ideas, thoughts and feelings through design and technology, art, music, dance, role play and stories.

We have spent some time making exterior houses! Now, let's focus on looking at what is actually inside our houses 😊 Can you walk around your house and see how many and where your bedrooms, kitchen, dining rooms, toilets, other rooms are?

Use the parts of a house word mat below and make a mark or checklist if you see these objects at your own house!

Notice several objects are placed in different rooms and places in your house! Different objects belong to different places in your house. Do you put away your toys where they should be after using them? 😊

Below are some pictures to look at but every house is unique. They all look different!
Have fun looking around your houses!
