W7 Tuesday Learning Blog

Good morning Reception Class πŸ˜Ž Welcome to Week 7 Virtual School!

There are 3 different learning areas for you to work on every day.
Try to follow the instructions carefully and complete the tasks according to your learning pace!

Please be prepared to share some of your work during the end of the day Zoom meeting at 11:30 am with your teachers. Don't forget to upload at least one task on Tapestry for teachers to see how hard you've been working daily! Keep up the good work πŸ˜Š

1) Phonics Book (Literacy)
Learning Objectives (LO): Reading ELG - Children read and understand simple sentences. They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. They also read some common irregular words. They demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read.
Writing ELG - Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They also write some irregular common words. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically plausible.

Tuesday is our day to work on Phonics Book!
Please take the time to complete one page per week and follow your own child's pace of learning.
Keep practicing reading and writing πŸ™‚

2) Mathematics (SSM)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children use everyday language to talk about size, weight, capacity, position, distance, time and money to compare quantities and objects and to solve problems. They recognize, create and describe patterns. They explore characteristics of everyday objects and shapes and use mathematical language to describe them.

There are two different types of Maths activities. Please feel free to move from one star challenge to another depending on your mastery remembering what works best for you.
Don't forget that learning is fun πŸ˜‰

Please download and work on Numbots daily if possible.

⭐ - 1 Star Challenge:

We have learned about 2D shapes last time. It's time for us to learn about 3D shapes now!
First, let's listen to 3D shapes song and familiarize ourselves with 3D shapes 😊

Please sing along if you would like. Enjoy!

3D Shapes Song by The Singing Walrus

Now you will all become 3D Shapes Detectives! There are so many hidden shapes that you can find around your house. Can you find the things around your house that looks like a cube, sphere, cylinder, and maybe a cone?

Can you sort 3D shapes out? What is the difference between 2D and 3D shapes?
That's right. 2D shapes are flat while 3D shapes are solid that have three dimensions.

⭐⭐ - 2 Star Challenge:

Let's look closely at four different 3D shapes today!

We have learned that 2D shapes are flat while 3D shapes are solid that have three dimensions.
Have a look at the video to examine different properties of 3D shapes.

We have learned about different types of 3D shapes now. Can you be a 3D shape detective? Look around your house and count how many different types of 3D shapes you can find!

Use a tally to count the shapes you see πŸ˜‰ Have fun!

3) Topic (Our Homes)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children use what they have learnt about media and materials in original ways, thinking about uses and purposes. They represent their own ideas, thoughts and feelings through design and technology, art, music, dance, role play and stories.

From this week, we will discuss and learn about our new topic Our Homes.
Everyone has been spending a lot of time at home right now. Therefore, we would like to spend some time to learn more about our homes and where we live 😊

Let's first read a poem about my house by Moira Andrew:

My House by Moira Andrew

After reading the poem, can you look around your house?
Take the time to closely observe the structure of your own house! What is above, beside, below, around, and inside your house?

After looking around your house, go outside and draw how your house looks like from outside (exterior structure of the house)!

Some houses in Brunei look like this from outside:

For RENT Detached house with compound... - Core Realty Brunei ...   Brunei House and Building Construction/Contractor, Property ...

Apartment for rent at madewa, Flat for rent Bandar seri begawan ...   BRUNEI KIARONG Semi-Detached house for RENT ($1,900) - Miri ...

How does your house look like? Does it look similar? Do you live in a house or an apartment?
Enjoy drawing your own house from outside and share with us your drawing if you can πŸ˜‰
