W6 Friday Learning Blog

Good morning Reception Class πŸ˜Ž Welcome to Week 6 Virtual School!

There are 3 different learning areas for you to work on every day.
Try to follow the instructions carefully and complete the tasks according to your learning pace!

Please be prepared to share some of your work during the end of the day Zoom meeting at 11:30 am with your teachers. Don't forget to upload at least one task on Tapestry for teachers to see how hard you've been working daily! Keep up the good work πŸ˜Š

1) Key Ring Sight Words (Reading)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children read and understand simple sentences. They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. They also read some common irregular words. They demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read.

It's Friday! Our time to review and practice our key ring sight words!
Are you ready?

Please find the right key ring numbers your child is working on below. Try to make up a sentence using the sight words if possible. Don't forget to check if your sentence makes sense!

Next 200 Sight Words

100 High Frequency Words

Read and search for tricky words we have learned! 😊

Phase 3 Tricky Word Search

2) Mathematics (SSM)
Learning Objectives (LO): Children count reliably with numbers from one to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.

There are two different types of Maths activities. Please feel free to move from one star challenge to another depending on your mastery remembering what works best for you.
Don't forget that learning is fun πŸ˜‰

Please download and work on Numbots daily if possible - your child will have an individual login to access this.

⭐ - 1 Star Challenge:

Today we will practice sharing objects equally and fairly. Please use counters available at home to practice sharing. Then, can you try to share the leaves equally between the minibeasts? You can draw or write the number of leaves you share in the circle πŸ˜‰

⭐⭐ - 2 Star Challenge:

Have a look at how Ms. MJ shared the counters equally between your teachers! Practice sharing counters or foods with parents or siblings at home 😊 Make sure you have shared them equally!

Read the mathematical problems carefully and try to answer at least 2 questions. Please show us how you solved the problem. You can use your counters or drawing to help you get the right answer 😊

3) Finger Gym (Moving and Handling)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children show good control and coordination in large and small movements. They move confidently in a range of ways, safely negotiating space. They handle equipment and tools effectively, including pencils for writing.

Today you will be cooking to practice doubles or halves at your home! Be creative to find out different ways to show doubles or halves of a number.

You can simply get biscuits or crackers and put some chocolate chips or candies on the top to make doubles dominos!

Have a look at how Ms. Anji explored to make and practice doubles in her kitchen! I wonder how you can recognize doubles around you πŸ˜€ Have fun!
