W4 Tuesday Learning Blog

Good morning Reception Class πŸ˜Ž Welcome to Week 4 Virtual School!

There are 3 different learning areas for you to work on every day.
Try to follow the instructions carefully and complete the tasks according to your learning pace!

Please be prepared to share some of your work during the end of the day Zoom meeting at 11:30 am with your teachers. Don't forget to upload at least one task on Tapestry for teachers to see how hard you've been working daily! Keep up the good work πŸ˜Š

1) Phonics Book (Literacy)
Learning Objectives (LO): Reading ELG - Children read and understand simple sentences. They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. They also read some common irregular words. They demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read.
Writing ELG - Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They also write some irregular common words. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically plausible.

Tuesday is our day to work on Phonics Book!
Please take the time to complete one page per week and follow your own child's pace of learning.
Keep practicing reading and writing πŸ™‚

Phonics Book Activity Resources below:

W sound worksheet

Read and Race Phase 4

2) Mathematics (SSM)
Learning Objectives (LO): Children count reliably with numbers from one to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.

There are two different types of Maths activities. Please feel free to move from one star challenge to another depending on your mastery remembering what works best for you.
Don't forget that learning is fun πŸ˜‰

Please download and work on Numbots daily if possible.

⭐ - 1 Star Challenge:

Let's learn about the word subtraction.
What does it mean to subtract?

Subtraction is when you take away objects from a group and count how many are left!

Let's learn more about subtraction through some songs.
What happens when we take away things?

Have a listen and enjoy! πŸ˜Š

⭐⭐ - 2 Star Challenge:

Today we will be learning how to make simple subtraction number sentences πŸ˜€

You will need:
blanket/clothes, counters, paper, pencil or pen

Practice taking away from the total number of counters you have!
Can you make subtraction number sentences?
What mathematical symbols do we need to make one?

3) Story Time (Reading & Speaking)
Learning Objectives (LO): Reading ELG - Children read and understand simple sentences. They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. They also read some common irregular words. They demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read.

Let's have a look and read Peekaboo Thomas with Ms.Kris today!

What do you see on the cover of the book? What do you think will happen in the story?
Can you practice retelling the story after you have read?
Try to recall different trains you've seen and how they feel. Enjoy!😊
