W11 Wednesday Learning Blog

Good morning Reception Class πŸ˜Ž Welcome to Week 11 Virtual School!

There are 3 different learning areas for you to work on every day.
Try to follow the instructions carefully and complete the tasks according to your learning pace!

Please be prepared to share some of your work during the end of the day Zoom meeting at 11:30 am with your teachers. Don't forget to upload at least one task on Tapestry for teachers to see how hard you've been working daily! Keep up the good work πŸ˜Š

1) Literacy (Writing)
Learning Objectives (LO): Writing ELG - Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They also write some irregular common words. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically plausible.

Let's practice writing simple words and sentences!

Have a look at the picture below:

What can you see in the summer garden?

What can you see in the picture? What do you see? What is happening?

Attempt to sound out and write down some things (words) you see in the picture.
If you can, start making and writing your sentences with "I can see..."

Don't forget Big letter (Capital letter), Finger Spacing, and Kung Fu Punch (Full Stop) at the end of each sentence!

2) Mathematics (SSM)
Learning Objectives (LO): Children count reliably with numbers from one to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.

There are two different types of Maths activities. Please feel free to move from one star challenge to another depending on your mastery remembering what works best for you.
Don't forget that learning is fun πŸ˜‰

Please download and work on Numbots daily if possible - your child will have an individual login to access this.

⭐ - 1 Star Challenge:

Today we are going to draw a rainbow to find out which number pairs make number 10. Have a look at the video of how to make Rainbow to 10!

What number goes with 0 to make 10? What number goes with 1 to make 10?
Carry on for each number so that you will have a beautiful rainbow πŸ˜‰

For extra challenge, you can practice writing addition number sentences for each arc in your rainbow! Have fun 😊

Rainbow to 10

⭐⭐ - 2 Star Challenge:

Since you have practiced finding bonds to 10, let us try to make rainbow to 20 for a challenge too!
Similar to how you have made rainbow to 10, try using numbers from 11 to 20 to find out different pairs to have number 20 πŸ˜‰

Rainbow Addition Facts to 20 - Posters

Show us your rainbows and addition number sentences! 😊

3) Topic (Our Playground)
Learning Objectives (LO): ELG - Children know about similarities and differences in relation to places, objects, materials and living things. They talk about the features of their own immediate environment and how environments might vary from one another. They make observations of animals and plants and explain why some things occur, and talk about changes.

We have previously looked at all the wonderful playgrounds in the world. Here are some other pictures of amazing playground all over the world. Today, we would like you to search using Google Earth map program to find out which country these playgrounds are located!

Where in the world do you think these playgrounds are located? Try to search and look around (click on the name to see how the playground actually looks like) to find which country these great playgrounds are located! Have you been to one of these countries before? πŸ˜‰
